Dr. Leopold completed her doctoral training at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she earned simultaneous degrees in clinical and developmental psychology and several awards of recognition for excellence. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois and her post-doctoral fellowship at Children's Hospital Oakland in the Department of Psychiatry. For over 10 years, Dr. Leopold served as a senior clinician at a public mental health clinic with the City and County of San Francisco.
Dr. Leopold has clinical experience in inpatient, outpatient, medical and crisis settings. She has provided brief and long-term psychotherapy to individuals, families and groups. Her experience also includes the provision of psychological and neuropsychological evaluations as well as consultation-liaison to medical staff. While employed with the Department of Public Health in San Francisco, she served as the training director for a Psychology Internship Program and provided supervision to psychology interns.
Dr. Leopold has received specialized training at the Child Trauma Training Institute of Parents Place, San Francisco, a year-long program focused on the treatment of children from birth through age 6 years. She has also received extensive training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
